Cornwall Tongs
Over the weekend, Kerry and I lived inside the Crantock, Cornwall holiday home with the Tongs.

Friday night, we caught up with Shelley and Kenley who are on a three country tear through Europe at the moment. Finding them in the Tate Modern, we immediately took them to the Rake for a pint of Belgian beer. After a walk along the South Bank and across to Fleet Street, we ended up in the cavernous Cheshire Cheese for a pint before being told that the bar was closing.
This morning I received a text from Andrea, whose pregnancy term date was today, that her midwife suggested walking as the baby had not dropped into position. We met up and a fortifying tea before wandering through Borough Market and down to the Southbank. We were headed to a concert at noon.
The day could not have been nicer as we headed up the stairs to the Purcell Room for the London Sinfonietta’s “Sounds of the City” performance.
I was ashamed that I had never been up to the lovely tables and beautiful view that the concrete monster afforded. When you see the skate park, head up the stairs to enjoy a lovely area.

Kerry met us for a quick lunch at Borough Market and then Andrea flashed off to Bow, where her husband, Fraser, received his citizenship to the UK today in a ceremony.
Jen and I were having a discussion a few weeks ago about how the Grandmothers in England seem to be much more punk rock / uninhibited by having crazy, sometimes hip hairstyles.
Kyle and I woke up to sunny skies and a busy day ahead. We started the morning right with a big fry up and then headed out to the Spitalfields Market. At 11am, it already had a buzzing atmosphere.
Kyle really liked the supercute cupcake bibs but neither of us could scrape together the 10 quid (as we had forgotten to go to the cash machine.)
We then met up with Fera, Ellorie and Nalani and had a fun day in Regent’s Park.
We opted for a picnic lunch on a park bench.
We fed ducks, arranged flowers, and Kyle taught Ellorie the art of chasing pigeons.
A magical princess led us to some amazing ‘cupcakes’ in Primrose Hill
We bid the Princesses adieu and were whisked to the Blue Post pub in Fitzrovia for a drink (still enjoying the lovely weather) with Drew, Jen and Badhri.
After a drink, we crept through the Percy Passage into Charlotte Street for a lovely dinner at Rasa.
Again with WAY too much food (2 veggie specials each with 3 curries, plus a fish curry, plus two dosas, coconut rice and a mango lassi!!). It barely fit on the table.
Afterwards, we opted to tie one off at the literary Fitzroy Tavern before calling it an evening.
A lovely end to a lovely day!
Today, Kyle hopped off her red-eye bright and sparkly and ready to hit the Portobello Market. We found lots of people had the same idea!!
There was one woman that even kept turning up at several points in the market wander.
Jigsaw in Notting Hill was decked out in crazy ribbons that looked like flowers
After a day of shopping at Portobello, Whitely’s and Sloan Square, we opted to take the Circle line home and walk across Tower Bridge. Pretty night!
Really chuffed that the BBC chose Southwark Cathedral to celebrate easter with this year! Here are the links to the photos and full service!
After a day of pub hunting yesterday, we ended up in the Kings Charles I in Kings Cross having a few pints with the one pub (of the three we tried) that were open. A discussion on the yummy Borough Market brownies came up so we ended up meeting up to nab one today.
Jen, Drew, Ken and I wandered around the entire market. It was mobbed today but still a lot of fun.
The infamous brownies purchased (from Cinnamon Tree Bakery) went down quickly. Ken nabbed some lunch and I got a few bits at Cranberry.
We were off to try the Market Porter pub. There were a few colorful characters inside
as well as a surprise for Drew from Konditor & Cook in the form of dark chocolate.
Thought these were such cute photos of Summer & Kerry that I had to post them.
Happy Easter everyone!
Beautiful Easter Eggs have popped up all over town. My favorites are at Fortnum and Mason. Kerry and I went in on Tuesday to have a little peek at the Easter fun. I was also on a mission to discover the dried honeycomb that is placed in the Ice Cream Parlour’s BeeKeeper Sundae.
It turns out to be a candy called “Hokey Pokey”. This sponge toffee, made with honey and sometimes enrobed in chocolate, is devine. According to Wikipedia, it is the most popular ice cream flavour after vanilla in the small isles. Nigella Lawson also has a cupcake recipe using it. F&M were sold out of the regular flavour so I opted to wait until it is back in stock.
In the meantime, take a look at the amazing eggs for sale!
Completely coincidentally, just days after telling my old Dr. Who
obsessed roommate about one of the last police boxes in London, we
found ourselves in the vicinity of this famous television icon.
